DIRTY MUSTACHE/ UGLY SWEATER

Some friends of ours came up with an idea for a "dirty mustache/ugly sweater" party. Matt has been working on growing his mustache while I have been hunting at Goodwill for my perfect ugly sweater. The final product. My handsome cowboy with his dirty mustache. I know we are lookin' REALLY good!! (you need to take a look at the detail of my doilie sweater, complete with different color buttons:)
Here I am with my friend Tiffany(although it's hard to actually see US when you just can't take your eyes off of these beautiful sweaters.)

Matt tied for first place in the dirty mustache contest.

I wish I had a close up so you could see the gorgeous detail in all of these lovely sweaters. Four dollars is really a small price to pay for such great sweaters. I really didn't know how fun wearing an ugly sweater could be.

Little Helping Hands

I have these two little helpers(especially Daniel) who cannot let me do ANYTHING on my own. They have to be right there with me doing everything I do. Here we are making pizza together. They were fine until I put the cheese on and then they were eating it off faster than I could put it on..........(notice we are FINALLY wearing warm clothing in Florida, it's still in the upper 60's low 70's. I pretend it's cold, it's makes me feel more like it's the holidays.)

This is how the day started. Daniel finding my mascara, and eating it for breakfast.

A few temper tantrums when told that there are SOME things a mom just has to do on her own.

Everything takes 5 times as long with two little helpers. While cleaning the refrigerator the boys decided to unclean the pantry. While organizing the pantry the boys decided to unclean the refrigerator.

I have to say......they are pretty creative finding new ways to reach as high as possible. Even though it is A LOT of work, I have to say I am TRULY thankful for little, chubby, sticky, helping hands.

TWILIGHT

Some of my friends decided last week that we should get together Saturday(today) and go to the Twilight movie. I really wanted to go but I hadn't read the book yet.....I know I'm a loser. I knew if I saw the movie before reading the book that I would never want to read the book. So I borrowed the first book from a friend and I had a little over two days to finish it. A lot of things suffered in the process.....my laundry, housekeeping, relief society lesson for tomorrow(pray for me), my sleep, and yes.... probably even my hygiene. However, I did finish it and my boys are still alive, even half dressed with full tummy's, It's a miracle. So, I just got back from the movie and I had a lot of fun. Everyone was offering the next book for me to borrow, but really I think I need a week to get some things back in order around here. My family would probably say I have been in "the twilight zone" lately, if you know what I mean. But I have to say I am excited to sink my teeth(my attempt at a vampire joke) into the next book as soon as I have the chance.

Parties and Planes

There are a few events from October that I wanted to post before I move on to November(I know November is half over). I have been a little busy.

We had a lot of fun in October going to some fun Halloween parties. At this party we had a pumpkin carving contest and a cupcake decorating contest....(which was probably the highlight of Nathan's little life). Daniel wasn't as into decorating his cupcake as Nathan. He is like me.....more interested in the cake than the frosting.
After we carved the pumpkins the kids all added their own touch with markers.

Nathan LOVING his cupcake, which was COVERED with m&m's.

Nathan's cute friend Pollyanna, she helped with his fabulous creation.
These next pictures are out of order. We were able to watch an air show at the millitary base in Jacksonville. You can tell that the boys had a very fun and long day because they zonked out right when we got in the car to go home.
Two tired little boys!!
Watching the planes with Daddy.

At the very end of the air show we were walking back to the car and a jet came flying right over our heads. It was so close and soooo loud. We all jumped but poor little Daniel really got scared and started to cry. When we got home we could hear the planes still flying at the millitary base....which isn't even close to where we live, but just shows how loud they were. Everytime we heard a plane Daniel would drop whatever he was doing and run to Matt or I with the most frightened face. It was so sad, but I guess we found it funny, so for the rest of the day Matt was making jet noises just to scare the poor little guy.
This show took place weeks ago, but just the other day Daniel heard a loud mail truck outside and again came running to me scared to death. He must be suffering from some post traumatic stress disorder. And we are still finding humor from it all. I know, we are a little mean but you would understand if you could see how cute Daniel's little scared face is! I would try to get a picture but that would require more trauma for Daniel......I think he has had enough.

BEST dad award!!

So this is REALLY going to GROSS
you out(especially Alayna and Danielle....sorry). So,we have all been dealing with the wonderful stomach flu. Poor Matt has had to deal with it the most being that Nathan is a daddy's boy and Nathan had it the worst.

After a loooong night of Nathan throwing up we decided to take him to the doctor the next day. While we were there Matt was holding Nathan and Nathan had his WORST episode yet....which is evident by Matt's purple shirt.

The doctor quickly asked me what I had fed him that was
so purple......(yogurt with blueberries)
So this is what Matt got to smell and wear all the way home. He amazed me that he kept a sense of humor through the whole thing. Except at one time he did say... "So, you just HAD to feed him blueberry's!" When we got home Matt asked me to take his picture. I would NOT have expected him to pose for a picture, I really thought he would jump in the shower as fast as possible. I guess he wants to remember ALL of the daddy moments that come along.

So, sorry this was a gross post but really just imagine it was purple punch!

Costumes and Candy.

We were able to go to the ward Trunk-or-Treat this year. The boys had so much fun, it was like they had experience trick-or-treating. They would go up to each trunk and hold out their little pumpkin buckets like they knew exactly what delicious surprise was coming. I NEVER give may babies candy....I'm just not a fan of it. However, we did let them each have a sucker at the end and they were totally in love!! Our little lion has a very scary ROAR!! Nathan loved his lion costume. He never wanted to take it off since the day it arrived in the mail from Grandma. He would even get upset if we took the hood part off. He wore it in his car seat and couldn't see a thing cause all the hair was covering his face. He didn't care.
Ready for their treats!

Daddy and Nathan enjoying dinner before the trunk-or-treat. I was asked to be a judge for the chili and pie cook off. Let me just say I was a little sick after eating a full bowl of chili and then taste testing 14 other kinds. They were all good, but really started to taste the same by the end.

This cat and dog LOVE each other!!

Little lion ferociously attacking his chocolate chip cookie.

Daniel did NOT want to wear any costume that we tried on him so finally I just cut out some ears and a tail and stuck it on one of his regular old outfits. He didn't mind it.......a success!

Look at those lions big blue eyes......I'm in love with them.

Sad little puppy.....doesn't understand why he can't have all the candy that he earned while trunk-or-treating.......poor little guy.

PUMPKIN PARTY

I decided the best way to get into the Halloween spirit was to have a party. I invited some mothers from my ward and a neighbor over for some pumpkin fun. All the kids got their own little pumpkin to decorate with markers and stickers. I also had a TON of pumpkin sugar cookies they were able to decorate. We had lots of pumpkin food and LOTS OF CHAOS!!............................that's my own cute little pumpkin in the back enjoying a pumpkin cookie wearing his pumpkin shirt! Here are some of the cute kiddos decorating their cookies.

It's nice having other mothers around to chit chat with.

I know, pretty crowded. No one seemed to mind, and I think the kids had a great time.

Some of my Halloween food creations.
I LOVE Halloween and I lOVE parties. So I think the pumpkin party is now a new tradition for me.

Playing in the Pumpkin Patch

One of my FAVORITE things about fall and of course Halloween is picking out pumpkins. We really wanted to go to a real farm where you actually "pick" the pumpkin out of the ground. They have those farms in Florida but they are a little expensive, so instead we went to a methodist church that was selling pumpkins. I think the boys had a lot of fun. They were actually excited about the pumpkins and wouldn't put their own little pumpkin down even when we got home, they carried them all over. It was a really fun day. This is Daniel with his favorite pumpkin that he picked to take home.
Me and my cut little punkins
We did have one little traumatic tantrum that took place when we had to take Nathan off of this tractor....he was not happy about that!

We still haven't carved them yet. I am a little worried about what the boys will do when we take a knife to their new favorite toys!!

Southern Women

Me and some of the other law school students wives went to the annual Florida "Southern Womens Expo." It was a lot of fun being surrounded by hundreds of Southern Women. There is just something about the south and the whole "southern hospitality" thing that is so true...but that's a whole other post. It was a nice little outing with REALLY good company. It is really fun to have so many other wives in my ward (I think around eight girls) who are going through the same thing as me(with their husbands in law school). My friend Amanda from Arizona and my friend Polyanna from Brazil(she speaks GREAT English). You need to notice that I do NOT have a child in each arm, which is a rare occasion, but thanks to Matt I was actually able to enjoy myself.
Polyanna was able to get a free little makeover. She looked even more BEAUTIFUL then she already is.
This is my cute friend with her adorable little baby. Thanks girls for a great day!!!

Yes...... it is stiiiiilllll Summer

So it is the middle of October and this is how we are spending our days. We are still playing out back in our swimming suits with lots of COLD water.

Daniel has been making this face a lot lately. It's like a stressed out look. I know he wishes I understood him and he could tell me his problems, but he still doesn't speak my language...just "twin language"(at least Nathan understands:)
Ohhhhh soooo sweet.
