Just wondering?

What do you do with little boys when you live in Utah? The winters are so long. Don't get me wrong. I love Utah and can't wait to come back, but I have to admit I am having some anxiety. My boys live outside. It's all we do. Walks, swimming, parks, bikes, sprinklers, Zoo. I mean really, I don't think I could handle being inside all day with both of them, we would all go crazy. I love playing in the snow, but you can't do that all day. So really I am asking, because we will be in Utah for well over a month during the holidays. What are we going to do?

National Sewing Month

Did you know that September is national sewing month? I didn't either until my friend Katy informed me and then invited me to her "Sewing Soiree." I don't know a thing about sewing but Katy knows EVERYTHING about it, and she is amazing. Her and her five girls come to church in beautiful clothing and accessories all handmade by her. She inspires me.

This particular night I was going to start a skirt. I found the pattern I wanted but not the right material. I am still looking. So I decided to enlist in Katy's help to replace a zipper in my old skirt. It turned out perfect. When I returned home Matt was a little curious as to why it took me ALL night just to replace a zipper( I think he was expecting a new dress, with all the time I was gone.) Little does he know that sewing girls really know how to PARTAYYYY!

Have you ever had water with watermelon in it? It's very refreshing.

What about coconut-avocado ice cream dusted with cloves? I was a little skeptical at first but it was seriously AMAZING. I know you wish you had a friend like Katy.......I think she knows how to do everything, and pretty much perfectly.

That is me in the brown and white stripes sewing my little heart out.

And of course Katy doesn't just hang store bought lights in her tree like everyone else. These are candles in baby food jars hanging from wire hand hung and lit throughout the entire tree. It looked so beautiful.

I now hope to sew a whole lot more, and I am "sew" glad I have a friend who can help. I REALLY need it.

Catching up

Ever since we switched the boys out of their cribs into beds, my life has not been the same. I won't get into details because I don't want to revisit the trauma(for me, not them). Consequently I have let things slide in my life, blogging being one of those things. But because Blogging is our only form of a family journal/scrapbook, I realize I must blog on.....even if I need to catch up on a lot at once.
Sometimes I will go to EXTREMES so I can cook dinner without two little boys riding tricycles through the kitchen, or pulling on my legs wanting to help do EVERYTHING I'm doing, which isn't possible with 2 two year old boys. So on this day they played with flour on the porch. I showed them how to gently transfer flour from one pan to another using measuring cups. I then asked them to try to keep the flour in the pans. I hadn't even walked all the way inside before I heard a lot of giggles and turned around to a flour fight and a flour covered porch. I guess I should have known.
This is Nathan whining for more flour. It's NEVER enough.

It's pretty exciting when you start getting invited to Birthday parties. Our boys wore their party hats ALL day, after a fun Pooh pool party!
Who needs your hands when you can paint with your WHOLE body!! Is it normal to look like this during a simple painting project? Daniel is my little packer, stacker, cleaner, organizer. You wouldn't believe everything he can pack on his tricycle. We finally bought a potty and some "cars" underwear as an incentive. I think Daniel could be potty trained by now, but my heart was just not into the whole process. And Nathan is NOT AT ALL ready. So I have decided to wait until they turn 3.

This is what potty training looked like at our house. Yep, pretty much a joke!!My boys looking as cute as EVER on our way to a wedding reception. The highlight of the night was laughing at our boys AWESOME dance moves all night. I wish I would have had a camera!
