A couple of months ago I didn't even like Matt's idea of camping with the boys in our own living room, so who knew I would agree to an actual overnight camping trip. Matt spent the whole week before the trip telling the boys all about how we were going camping. He even set up the tent to show them where we would all be sleeping. I guess they really did know what we were talking about because I have never seen them happier than in the car on our way to go camping. It was all smiles and giggles until we had to come home after 5 minutes of driving since Matt forgot his wallet. Daniel cried so hard when he saw our house, I guess he was thinking our 5 minute car trip wasn't exactly what he had in mind when we told him we were going camping. You can't reason with a two year old so he cried up until he realized that we were on our way again, and we were just stopping at home for a minute.
The boys had so much fun running around our campsite and exploring with their cute girlfriends from our ward. They loved the campfire and of course the tent. The cutest part of it all happened when we decided to put the boys to bed. They have never slept outside of a crib and we worried they may not want to go to sleep and they might be scared because it was so dark. So we tucked them into the sleeping bags and told them goodnight. Matt and I wanted to sit with our friends by the fire. We didn't get but 5 feet from the tent before we heard giggles and squeals of excitement. We saw heads protruding against the sides of the tent and little heads poking up looking out at us through the screen of the tent. They were certainly having their own little party and all we could do was laugh. I don't blame them, it's like they were celebrating their first night sleeping together and not being caged in a crib.
Before long they dropped from exhaustion and we later joined them. It's amazing how two small little boys seem to take up all the good sleeping space, it left Matt and I pretty uncomfortable. I'm just thankful we don't share a bed with them at home! Although, it was a great feeling all sleeping together enjoying the sounds of nature and the beautiful stars in the sky. There is nothing like camping, it's like every little boys dream. We can't wait to do a whole lot more of it in the future.
This is what it takes for the Lorz family to go camping for just ONE night!

how cute and how fun and how funny ... they are just adorable Marianne!
Those pictures are adorable! Did you really get take out from Olive Garden? I love it!! I can't wait for the weather to warm up enough for us to go camping. So jealous!!
Oh that is so fun! I love the pictures of them asleep in the tent. During the night of every single one of our camping trips with babies, I always swear we are never going to do it again. Babies waking up all night and not getting any sleep is not fun. In the morning it's all good again, the kids always have so much fun, it makes a night of no sleep worth it!
You make having twins look like so much fun and so easy too! Glad that you guys had fun!
Oh, I love camping! I think I partly have you to thank for that :) Anyway, you are so brave. I have taken my kids camping one time! I loved it. Can't wait to do it again! I have never seen a campsite with tropical plants before. You are such a good mom.
Looks like fun!!! Falling asleep in sleeping bags is good practice for when they move to a BIG BOY BED!!! hehehe!!
That looks so fun!!! I want camp there. Camping here looks nothing like that.
im jealous I love camping!
So cute! I can't wait for camping season to start. It looks like so much fun!
That picture of Nathan dipping his PB&J in the ketchup made me laugh because Mason is such a dipper! He has to dip everything! Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. I hope you talk a good nap the next day when the boys went down!
How fun! I am so excited about coming to visit!!!
oh, PB&J AND ketchup - couldn't get any better!
So fun! It looks beautiful there, I can't wait to get great weather like that! Camping really is so fun, and a pretty cheap activity...especially with PBJ and Ketchup!
all i have to say is SICK to the PB&J + ketchup and FUN to have a campout!....was it anything like camping in UT?
That's awesome. I've been waiting to take Mason camping but I wasn't sure if he would sleep all night. Now that I see it is possible we'll be camping as soon as it's warm. Glad you had fun!!
Thats so cute! We've been camping once with the kids....in our backyard! Hubby got to sleep in there with them, I had to get up at 5:30am the next morning so I got a good nights sleep!
