This year has been CRAZY for hurricane scares. It seems like we get through one hurricane scare, just to find out that there is another one on the way. Being inside so much has made me think to much and sometimes that is not a good thing. I tend to get a little sad when there is bad weather day after day. I remember in Logan having a hard time emotionally near the end of the Winter. I guess the gray days start to make me feel a little dreary(is that a word?) The hurricanes kind of remind me of life. You get through one trial only to find one more on the way, but in between you are blessed with moments of joy and days of sunshine. Here we have used the days of sunshine to prepare ourselves for the potential hurricanes. We have been lucky, only having some Tropical storms. However, it has already been kind of a long month for me, and I am looking forward to winter(winter here is more like fall or spring).
This is outside our back porch on a particularly rainy and windy day.
All this inside time has officially turned my kids into T.V. watchers. Yes, I know children under the age of two are not suppose to watch T.V. Well, since the days these kids were born I dreamed of the day we could all just relax and watch a movie together. That day will soon come but as for now I am happy with them making it through at least half of Sesame Street.
I know, that is pretty sad that my 18 month old knows how to use a remote.
Nathan wanted to be wrapped in a towel after playing outside in the rain. He stayed all "straight jacket like" for a long time.
This is my finished project that my cute moms wanted to see. I was working on it a little while they were in town. Painting the old curtain rod and old picture frames, as well as the old table we got when my Grandpa passed away. They wanted to see it finished and hung....so here it is. I only had to buy the black paint and the ribbon to hang the pictures. My craft projects have to be cheep these days!!

I'm right there with you on the TV thing! Mason all of a sudden is wanting to watch tv and can sit through a lot more of it! Sometimes, you just need a little break! Plus, I don't think it's bad if they watch a couple shows a day. It's not like that's all they're doing ALL day long. Mason loves the Backyardigans. I think because they sing and dance. It's one of my favorites as well, so cute.
I've wondered what the weather's been like there with all these hurricanes. I'm glad you haven't had anything too severe!
And...with the T.V.thing... yeah--Ellee didn't get into it AT ALL until like 2 (I would even sometimes try to get her to watch a cartoon so that I could do something...but, she wouldn't.) And now? Uh...she just goes into the kitchen and turns it on. She knows how to turn the T.V. AND the Dish on and LOVES to watch T.V. I'm always trying to monitor how much she watches, but I understand how you feel with sometimes just not really caring if she's watching it cuz then I can do dishes or scrub the bathroom or whatever else I need to do. Her favorite is also Backyardigans. We have some of their DVDs and she would watch that for hours if I'd let her. Sometimes I feel like a bad mom that she loves T.V., but with some of the learning shows nowadays--she can learn her colors, numbers, letters, how not to bite people, etc.
Hey Girl, I have been worried about you and the weather so I am glad to hear you are all good. I love how your pictures turned out even cuter then you described. You should do a blog of your whole house I want to see it, it seems cute from these pictures. love you girl!
Love the picture rod. Reminds me of that blessed store we both love called Rod Works! I'm also lovin' your crafty goodness. Everything looks amazing!
I seriously can't believe your boys are 18 months. Where does time go? I remember your last post about being baby hungry and I thought, "how could she possibly want another baby when she has 2 babies?" But really, it's that time! I have a feeling the next pregnancy will produce a small litter...
Oh yeah, glad you made it through the hurricane fun.
On rainy day or days when I'm sick I have to admit the tv saves my life. It's better than me barking at them all day because I'm getting tired of being indoors entertaining. A day here and there won't kill em. I agree with you on the weather stuff.
Your kids are doing way better than mine! I think Mitchell knew how to get a dvd going by the time he was one! Maybe not, but close! They look so cute sitting on the couch!
My son watches TV. Only pbs kids, because we don't have cable. I think word world and super why have really helped him with his abc's. I need Buddy's daily dose of TV time so I can do some work. Hopefully the weather will get better soon! I'm glad you haven't been washed away!
Marianne, it's been awhile.. I am so glad to hear that things are not getting too out of hand with the weather there, as far as hurricanes go. I guess I didn't realize you were that affected by them where you live??? Where do you live exactly??? I think your house is looking soo cute and wish I could come see it in person sometime...Miss you so much, send my hellos along to the kids and Matt...how is his schooling going by the way?
Marianne, I miss you! You should come home that is my home and not yours in Florida!
Love your project, you talented little thing! I want to have "hurricane" season for a day. Can I move out to Florida with you for the winter, I like fall and spring weather much better than winter!!!!!
The boys are as cute as ever, by the way.
i'm so glad you are safe inside and the storms have been minimal!!!
i think i would go stir crazy being stuck inside though...i'm glad you can cope with crafts! it's darling by the way....
We have that exact same table! Love the new color. My sister is in St, Augustine and they got flooded. She says that they are also pretty sick of the hurricanes!
Marianne don't feel bad about the TV thing Mack is 9 months and he sits and watches Sports Center with Rock already. I am doomed to spend my nights with my family watching ESPN. So ask me any sports question and I will know the answer. I am afraid Mack's first words will be ESPN or baseball, basketball, Brett Favre, etc.
I am glad you are surviving the weather... I have been worried about you, and keep thinking about calling, but keep forgetting to.I am a horrible friend! But my thoughts and prayers are with you!!!
Having to be inside a lot can be pretty rough on you and your kids. I am a little nervous for our upcoming winter, I hear they are pretty intense. It's really awesome that your winter is like fall....fall is my favorite season and to have it last all winter would be great!:)
